How did they meet?
Shalyn and Tim met in 2019 at a wedding!
Ending the night together at a Waffle House, they found a special connection that went… nowhere.
They reconnected a year later when Tim was living in Austin, Texas and they decided to give long-distance a try. Eventually he moved to Denver, Colorado to take their relationship to the next level.
How did Tim propose?
Tim spent most of the summer trying to find the right time to propose but was disrupted by people, mosquitos, Shalyn’s dislike of her clothes, Shalyn’s lack of nail polish, and most of all, Shalyn herself. How do you surprise someone when they’re expecting you to pop the question soon?
He ended up proposing at a little spot called the Medano Zapata Ranch in the San Luis Valley of Colorado on September 14th, 2024. Though Shalyn was expecting the proposal, he still caught her by surprise!
What’s a favorite memory?
Shalyn’s favorite memory was their first international trip to Indonesia back in 2022. Shalyn got the opportunity to show Tim her culture and introduce him to her family, making it a very special trip. In Bali, they experienced the beautiful culture of Balinese Hinduism and an Indonesian-style wedding. In Labuan Bajo, they swam with tropical fish and watched Komodo Dragons laze about. They also got a VIP hospital experience when Tim had to get emergency surgery on his picky (rumor is, he was bit by a komodo dragon). And finally, a family reunion, where she got a chance to prove to Tim that there are just as many Tanny’s as there are Gorton’s.
Tim’s favorite memory was their first trip together to Connecticut back in 2020. Tim got to introduce Shalyn to his family and friends while celebrating their first Christmas together. He showed her the beauty of CT and its delicious food (diners and the best pizza in the U.S.!) During that trip, they got to meet his nephew, Michael, for the first time and she learned how messy lunchtime can be.
